As early as the 1960s ENGEL was producting knitted nappies from bleached cotton. 1982 marked a turning point towards natural textiles, when it was one of the first to use organic cotton. Today the range includes a complete nappy system, a collection of underwear for babies, children and adults, night-wear for babies and children, and also a selection of top clothing for babies.

Apart from organic cotton, the company uses only the finest organic merino virgin wool, untreated wool with silk and cotton with silk. All the dyes are free of heavy metals; they have never used the harnful, allergizing azo dyes. The wollen textiles are only dyed using reactive dye-stuffs, which combines particulary well with the fibres and stand out for their excellent fastness. All metal parts used are nickel-free and other materials are from natural raw materials which grow again.

ENGEL was a founding member of the Arbeitskreis Naturtextil e.V. and of today`s International Natural Textile Association and will continue to be committed to working for superior ecological quality to help babies` skin and environment.
